Vishay's new VPR221Z high-precision Z-Foil resistor
Vishay Intertechnology introduced the new VPR221Z ultra-high-precision Z-Foil technology resistor.
The new device helps to achieve better performance by combining a range of specifications in a single device. These specifications include a load-life stability of ±0.005 % (50 ppm) for 2000 hours at +25 °C; a low voltage coefficient of <0.1 PPM/V; current noise of < -42 dB; and thermal EMF of 0.05 µV/°C.
Some of the key features are listed below
1. The "Z- Foil" technology, provides reduction of the resistive component's sensitivity to ambient temperature variations (TCR) and applied power changes.
2. Provides an absolute TCR of ±0.05 ppm/°C from 0 °C to +60 °C and ±0.2 ppm/°C from -55 °C to +125 °C, +25 °C ref.
3. Power rating up to 8 W at +25 °C per MIL-PRF-39009 (1.5 W in free air)
4. Power coefficient ("?R due to self heating") of ±4 ppm/W typical
5. A tolerance of ±0.01 %.
6. Instantaneous thermal stabilization time
7. Nearly immeasurable 1.0-ns rise time without ringing.
8. Provides Power Rating to 8 W
9. ESD immunity, even at 25 kV
10. Offers resistance values from 0.5 O to 500 O
11. Features a non-inductive (<0.08 µH), non-capacitive design, and a 4-Kelvin connection for increased accuracy.
Typical applications include dc-to-dc converters, switching and linear power supplies, precision current sensing, feedback circuits, and precision amplifiers in test and measurement instrumentation, medical systems, satellites and aerospace systems, commercial and military avionics, and weapons systems.
Packaging: VPR221Z is in lead (Pb)-free TO-220 package
