Highly integrated tuner IC for 1- and 3-segment ISDB-T applications
Maxim Integrated Products launched the MAX2163A, a silicon tuner for use in 1- and 3-segment, ISDB-T (Terrestrial Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting) applications. The device operates in the VHF as well as UHF frequency bands.
The chip contains all of the circuit blocks needed for ISDB-T, except a crystal and cellular rejection filter.
The internal RF blocks of the device include:
1. Variable bandwidth low-pass filters
2. Optional VHF and UHF tracking filters
3. Power detectors that enable closed-loop automatic gain control (AGC) of the device.
Some of the features include:
1. Fabricated using Maxim's SiGe BiCMOS process.
2. Provides SiGe performance with power consumption of CMOS.
3. A high dynamic range of 99dB.
4. Superior adjacent-channel performance.
5. Ideal for cell-phones, PMPs, and automotive infotainment systems.
6. Designed to receive mobile TV broadcasts especially in Brazil and Japan.
