Intel's new eco-friendly Xeon server processors with energy efficiency
Intel Corporation by launching first halogen-free 45-nanometer Xeon processors, has moved another step forward in their march towards minimizing the environmental footprint of their products. The chip gives high performance and energy efficiency due to Intel's advanced 45nm manufacturing capability and its reinvented transistors that use a Hafnium-based high-k metal gate.
All these devices are drop-in replacement for existing Intel dual processor platforms that have been in the market since 2006. Intel also announced that all previously launched versions of the Intel Xeon 5200 and 5400 series will now be halogen-free.
New halogen-free Xenon chips include,
1. Quad-Core L5430, which has a clock speed of 2.66GHz and consumes only 50W of power
2. Quad-Core X5470, which works at 3.33GHz and having power consumption of 120W
3. Quad-Core X5492, whose speed is at 3.4GHz and consumes 150W of power
4. Dual-Core X5270 works at 3.5GHz and the power consumption is only 80W
Price (1k quantities): L5430: $562
X5470: $1386
X5492: $1493
X5270: $1172
