New frequency agile RF receiver chip from Melexis

Melexis launched the MLX71122, for Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and RF remote controls, which is frequency agile version of a first new, integrated RF receiver family.

The device has a programmable PLL. This enables addressing all sub-bands of the European 863 - 870MHz band and regionally different bands like the US 315MHz or 915MHz as well as the European 433MHz just by software (without changing the RF hardware.

Some of the features include
Extended operating temperature range of -40 to +105 °C
Supply voltage ranges from 3V to 5.5V
Typical current consumption of 11mA.
In standby mode the current drawn is below 50nA.
The AFC is used to tolerate frequency uncertainties of the input signal.
The use of internal IF filter and FSK/ASK demodulators reduce system cost.

Applications of this IC include automotive remote keyless entry (RKE), tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), security systems, home automation, garage door openers, wireless door bells, baby monitors and wireless headsets.

Price: 1.11 €. In 100k quantities.
Package: 32 lead QFN
