MOSFETs with increased efficiency and thermal performance

International Rectifier has introduced a new family of 30 V MOSFETs optimized for synchronous buck converter designs for notebook computers, server CPU power, graphics, and memory voltage regulator applications.

These new family of MOSFETs are only 0.7 mm in thickness and their footprint is smaller compared to standard SO-8 devices.
The lowest on-resistance (RDS(on)) for one of the device (IRF6727M) in the family is only 1.2 mOhms. Another interesting feature is, they minimize gate charge (Qg) and gate-to-drain charge (Qgd) together with ultra-low package inductance to reduce both conduction and switching losses.

IR says, This family of MOSFETs allows operation up to 25A per phase, while maintaining the small form factor of a single control and a single synchronous MOSFET," said Jeff Sherman, IR's senior product marketing manager for Enterprise Power Products.
