New clock generator from Analog Devices for networking apps
AD9549 is a new dual network clock generator from Analog Devices. It adopts Analog's Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) technology. In case the input reference clock fails, this clock generator IC continues to hold the output frequency until the reference failure is recovered. This holding of the signal will continue until the system is powered down or a new reference is provided. It has two clock reference inputs with switchover. The user can set loop bandwidth to optimize reference A to reference B switching time. The jitter is reduced to 600 femto seconds.
AD9549 has a programmable digital loop filter capable of bandwidths down to 1Hz and below.
Since this IC provides flexible output frequency, the additional frequency translation circuit is not required for non-networking applications.
