Toshiba's new LCD panels with white LED backlighting

Toshiba has replaced Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) backlighting with white LED backlighting in it's new series of 10.4 inch and 10.6 inch mercury free LCD modules for notebook computers and laptops. The advantage of white LED back-lighted LCD panels are reduced thickness, light in weight, and very power saving. Also they provide better safety against physical shock and vibrations.
The range of sizes available are from 8.9 inch to 13.3 inch and pixel resolutions of XGA, WXGA, WXGA+. Along with the above features, these LCD panels have adopted thinner glass substrates of 0.3 mm or less.
This technology over the time may make CCFL backlit LCDs panels to go obsolete in a year or two.
