Real Time Clock IC from Intersil does more than a timing IC

ISL12024/25 from Intersil packs clock with 64 bit security ID, calendar, alarm, CPU supervisor, and watchdog timer. This timing device with 4Kbits of EEPROM provides builtin timing and crystal compensation enabling tuning of crystal frequency through microcontroller. Automatic battery backup feature is provided for any main supply failure. The operating voltage range is 2.7V to 5.5 V and in battery backup mode it can work down to 1.8V. Consumers 800nA of current in battery mode. The EEPROM has a feature called block lock control to ensure safe and secure memory access and to prevent corruption of data. The calendar is corrected for leap year upto and after 2099.
