Three core DSP from TI for CDMA base stations
Texas Instruments is sampling new highly integrated 3 core DSP to selected customers. The new DSP coded TMS320TC16488 is a single chip solution for a macro CDMA base station. Termed as "baseband on a chip" saves the designer from using few external logic interface devices such as FPGA and ASICs.
The computation capability of this device suits the WCDMA base station requirement in handling both data and voice. This device integrates two co-processors, DDR-2 interface, serial RapidIO interface; all this makes interaction with other devices or subsystems on board easier.
TC16488 offers on-chip OBSAI and CPRI W-CDMA standardized antenna interface and Gigabit Ethernet port. This System On Chip (SOC) kind of device is supported with optimized software libraries for WCDMA.
The Texas Instruments mantra for cellphone industry is "SOC".
