Linear's new DC/DC controller handles wide i/p voltage and provides wide o/p voltage

Linear Technology's LT3845, the new DC/DC synchronous step down controller can work in the input voltage range of 4V to 60V and can deliver output voltage of 1.23V to 36V at load currents up to 20A. The switching frequency can be synchronized to external clock form 100KHz to 600KHz. The wide input voltage is suitable for 12V and 42V automotive, 48V telecom supplies, heavy equipment systems, avionics, industrial controls and distributed power systems.

Works on current mode and can drive N-channel MOSFETs. Built in regulator provides required bias voltage. This device is designed to maintain high efficiency even at lighter loads. LT3845 maintains a constant dead time to prevent shooting switching currents independent of the MOSFETs used. Consumes no load quiescent current of 120 micro amps. Operates in the wide temperature range of -40 deg C to 125 deg C.
