Maxim's USB2.0 transceiver provide UART port through single connector
Maxim has released to market MAX3349EA, an USB 2.0 full speed transceiver with UART multiplexing mode. With this device hand held gadgets such as Personal Digital Assistants, cell phones and media players can use same connector for either USB2.0 or UART transceiving data from PC. MAX3394EA offers a separate UART voltage supply input to support legacy devices using +2.75V signaling. The maximum UART baud rate supported is 921kbaud. There is an internal 1.5 k ohm pullup resistors to D+ to allow the device to logically connect and disconnect from USB while plugged in. The pins D+ and D- are capable of withstanding ESD up to +/- 15kV.
The other features are,
· Internal series termination resistors on D+ and D-
· Built-In level shifting down to +1.4V, ensuring compatibility with low-voltage ASICs
· Low power operation through SUS input activation
· Internal Linear regulator to power devices plugging to USB cable.
· Industrial temp. range of -40 to +85 Deg C
