New power switch with integrated PWM controller and SenseFET for LCD TV/monitor apps

Fairchild Semiconductor has released the FSGM0565R, a member of Fairchild Power Switch (FPS) portfolio that integrates Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controller and SenseFET designed for offline Switch-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) with minimal external components. The FSGM0565R power switch is suitable for LCD TV and monitor, STB and DVD combination applications.

The PWM controller includes an integrated fixed-frequency oscillator, Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO), Leading- Edge Blanking (LEB), optimized gate driver, internal soft-start, temperature-compensated precise current sources for loop compensation, and self-protection circuitry. This device provides a basic platform suitable for design of a flyback converter.

The SenseFET, a high-voltage startup circuit that turns off the startup resistor, and "soft burst" operation in standby, saving 30mW and preventing the converter from generating audible noise.
