High performance traffic generator and exerciser from LeCroy for PCI Express 3.0

LeCroy has launched the Summit Z3-16, a new high performance traffic generator and exerciser supporting PCI Express 3.0. The Summit Z3-16 Exercisers are used in functional verification, interoperability and performance testing for PCI Express root complex and endpoint applications.

The Summit Z3-16 features a unified single application, when used with a protocol analyzer makes it simple to create powerful script level traffic and monitor the results of all tests. Additional features that provide enhanced test plan development include manual error injection, end point and host emulation and capture/ playback of traces taken from PCIe systems and devices.

Summit Z3-16 is built on the same architecture that previously set a benchmark performance record for bus utilization. Performance when combined with real world behavior sets the Summit Z3-16 apart from other protocol exercisers. It's not enough to load up the bus with transactions, being able to recreate ACK latencies that meet the PCIe 3.0 specification is the real proof of a quality PCI Express protocol exerciser.

LeCroy protocol analyzers and exercisers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development tools. All LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and the ability to create user-defined test reports, which allows to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish the projects on time.

"New products based on PCI Express 3.0 will enable the higher I/O performance needed by growing enterprises," said Jim Pappas, Director of Technology Initiatives for Intel's Enterprise Platform Group. "Designing and testing these products requires greater effort and expertise, and the right tool set. Intel is pleased to see companies like LeCroy delivering tool solutions that the PCIe development community can use to reach their productivity goals on new PCIe 3.0 based designs."

"We are pleased to offer the first protocol exerciser for PCIe 3.0 for developers," said John Wiedemeier, Product Marketing Manager, Interconnect Communications Group, LeCroy Corporation. "Many of our customers are at a point where they need to begin emulating host and device test environments to prove their silicon and systems. The Summit Z3-16 will be a big help to test labs looking to get on top of their testing schedules and deliver products to meet their market objectives."
