New series of off-line LED driver IC for lighting apps
Allegro MicroSystems has introduced the LC5205D and LC5210D, a new series of off-line LED driver IC that includes both a main controller integrated circuit (MIC) and a power MOSFET. The high voltage capability allows direct connection to a wide range of supply voltages ranging from 25 to 400 V (recommended). The LC5205D and LC5210D devices are suitable for residential and commercial lighting applications.
The controller chip utilizes the high voltage BCD process, the low operating current and high voltage capability allow direct connection of the supply voltage pin to the high voltage supply source, unlike other low voltage controller chip solutions.
The LC5205D and LC5210D devices feature over-current and thermal shutdown protections secure the LED driver design's reliability, and reduce the component count and improve the overall reliability of the design.
The controller chip and N-MOSFET are both housed in an 8-pin DIP package that enables a small driver board design.
Package: In 8-pin DIP, with pin 7 removed for greater creepage distance from the supply pin
