Precision clock generator from Maxim for high-speed data communications

Maxim has introduced the MAX3625B, a new low-jitter, precision clock generator that integrates a crystal oscillator and a phase-locked loop (PLL) clock multiplier to generate high-frequency clock outputs for Ethernet, 10G Fibre Channel, and other networking applications. The MAX3625B device is suitable for applications such as Ethernet switches/routers and storage-area network switches.

The key features of the MAX3625B device are,

Operates from 3.3V ±5%
24.8MHz to 27MHz of crystal oscillator interface
Up to 320MHz of CMOS input
Output frequencies of Ethernet: 62.5MHz, 125MHz, 156.25MHz, 312.5MHz and
10G Fibre Channel: 159.375MHz, 318.75MHz
Low Jitter up to 0.14psRMS (1.875MHz to 20MHz), 0.36psRMS (12kHz to 20MHz)
Better power-supply noise rejection
No external loop filter capacitor required

The MAX3625B provides three LVPECL outputs up to 320MHz from two output-divider banks. The output dividers are programmable, allowing designers to set these outputs to the frequencies required by their application.

Operating temperature range: -40°C to +85°C

Package: 7.8mm x 4.4mm, lead-free, 24-pin TSSOP package
Price: Starts at $7.35 for 1k pieces
