12-bit color-processing capable LCD controller SoC from ST Micro for HD monitors
ST Micro has introduced the STDP6000, a new series of single-chip controller IC that offers advanced 12-bit color-processing capabilities, enhanced color fidelity, DisplayPort connectivity and low power consumption when the monitor is in standby mode.
The STDP6000 utilizes ST's Faroudja color-processing technologies for full high-definition monitors, which offers image enhancement, deep color support, and enhanced wide-gamut-panel support with better color fidelity.
The STDP6000 enables high-bandwidth audio-video signal transmission using few signal lines than conventional display interfaces used in multimedia-monitor applications.
The key features of the STDP6000 series are,
Programmable zoom and shrink scaling
DisplayPort 1.1a compliant receiver, 4-lane DisplayPort input
Ultra-Reliable DVI receiver (165 MHz)
Triple-channel (10-bit) ADC (205 MHz) and PLL
Dual channel 8-bit LVDS output
HDMI 1.3 RX integrated with I2S (L/R channel) or SPDIF audio output ports
Intel x86-compatible microcontroller with external SPI ROM interface
12-bit panel gamma correction and high-quality dithering for 8-bit and 6-bit panel interface
PWM signals for backlight, audio volume control, etc.
The suggested applications for the STDP6000 series are WSXGA+/FHD/WUXGA LCD monitors with VGA, DP, HDMI 1.3 or DVI inputs (supports wide-gamut panels and high color fidelity applications).
The STDP6000's DisplayPort Receiver has passed the VESA Compliance Test.
OEMs and end users can easily upgrade their monitor software without factory recall or on-site technical support via ST's Smart ISP (In-System Programming) technology.
