Silex's VirtualSync SDK to provide iTunes with network sync capability

Silex has made available VirtualSync SDK (Software Development Kit) designed for Apple iPod dock manufacturers that adds the capability of synchronizing a docked iPod with iTunes over a wired or wireless network.

VirtualSync SDK empowers iPod dock OEMs to include unique software capabilities that connects the iPod with the existing home network and enables the iPod content to become remotely transferrable.

"Silex has enhanced the level of the Virtual USB technology over five years into the SDK product from our experience with consumer and business applications," said David N. Smith, president of Silex Technology America. "Our robust iPod networking know-how should be more widely available so that AV OEM customers can easily create their own unique elegant solutions for their end users."

The integral part of VirtualSync SDK is the USB IP firmware source code. The Linux-based product is hardware independent and currently optimized for Linux 2.6.18 or greater. With the code size being 50KB, the simple code porting can be quickly completed requiring virtually no hardware platform change.

Silex says, in addition to the VirtualSync SDK, it can also provide a Client SDK that includes unique virtual USB drivers, APIs and DLLs, which allow developers to integrate the networked iPod-iTunes sync management into the existing application program in Windows or Macintosh.
