Single slot graphics platform from GE Fanuc for military apps
The new 6U VME single slot graphics hardware platform from GE Fanuc features Intel Core2 Duo processor operating at up to 2.26GHz, an NVIDIA graphics processor (G72 or G73) and a 10 Gigabit Ethernet network interface card. The SE 2 graphic platform is designed for military and space-constrained applications.
The key features of the SE2 graphics platform are,
Up to 8 GBytes of DDR2 SDRAM
Four serial ports, six USB 2.0 ports and PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports
Optionally available with an x4 PCI Express interface (replaces the 10 Gigabit Ethernet interface)
On-board solid state SATA disk drive and a single channel redundant MIL-STF-1553 interface
Software support includes Wind River's VxWorks 6.6, Windows XP and Windows Vista and Linux.
The suggested applications for the SE 2 graphics platform include digital mapping, and distributed aperture sensors.
"Graphics processing is assuming an increasingly vital role in many of today's military applications," said Peter Cavill, General Manager, Military & Aerospace Products at GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, "but this requirement has historically been at odds with the need to keep board counts to a minimum. By introducing the SE 2, we are making it possible for systems developers to incorporate rugged graphics processing within a system but without compromising other elements of the design."
