High current power switches from Diodes optimized for USB apps

Diodes has introduced the AP2101 and AP2111, a new single channel power switch devices to its AP21XX power switch product line targeting high current applications. The two new devices provide a continuous output current capability up to 2A and optimized for use in self-powered and buspowered USB and other 3-5V hot-swap applications.

High-side devices, the AP2101 and AP2111 offer designers the choice of active-low and active-high enable, respectively.

The key features of the AP2101 and AP2111 devices are,

Single USB port power switches with auto-discharge
2.45A accurate current limiting
90mOhm on-resistance
Operating input voltage ranges from 2.7V to 5.5V
0.6ms typical rise time
ESD protection: 4KV HBM, 300V MM
Transient response time of 5µs
Prevents unnecessary system shutdown or restart, and improve overall system robustness Provides a complete protection solution for heavy capacitive loads, short circuit, and offer reverse current blocking, over-current, over-temperature
Short-circuit protection, controlled rise time and under-voltage lockout functionality.

The suggested applications include consumer electronics, communications and computing applications.

A 7ms deglitch capability on the open drain flag output prevents false over-current reporting and requires no additional external components.
