3-channel RGB laser driver IC from Maxim for embedded pico projectors
Maxim has introduced the MAX3600, a 3-channel laser driver IC for embedded pico projectors that supports video imaging with red, blue, and green lasers. The MAX3600 is suitable for the applications such as smartphones, portable media players, mobile-computing devices, digital cameras/camcorders, accessory projectors, and digital picture frames.
Each output includes a 10-bit video digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with programmable gain and offset. For operation with synthetic green lasers, the driver includes a periodic off function and a fourth output with a random-noise generator.
This device is fabricated using Maxim's new BiCMOS process, and features a fast switching times of < 2ns to support high-resolution images up to 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) and WXGA (1400 x 768 pixels).
The key features of the MAX3600 are,
Integrates four current-output laser drivers
10-Bit Video DACs, fCLK = 1MHz to 160MHz
8-Bit gain and offset DACs
Serial port control
Laser enable
Random-noise generator and Periodic off
Operating temperature range: 0°C to +70°C
