2A, 25V non-sync PWM step down regulator from Exar for audio/video equipments

Exar has introduced the XRP7657, a new member of PowerBlox family that features non-synchronous Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) step down converter capable of a constant output current up to 2A, and the operating input voltage ranges from 4.75V to 25V allows for single supply operations from 5V, 12V and 24V power rails.

The XRP7657 targeted for applications such as audio-video equipment like set-top boxes, telecom, computing peripherals, distributed point of load conversions, medical & industrial equipments.

The key features of the XRP7657 are,

PWM voltage mode control: Constant operating frequency of 420kHz, Efficiency up to 94%
Adjustable output voltage ranges from 0.8V to 21V with 2% accuracy
Soft-start and enable function
Built-in thermal, over current and output short circuit protection
RoHS compliant

"This two Amp solution complements our existing three, six, eight and twelve Amp converters from Exar's PowerBlox family and is part of Exar's continuous effort to provide designers with higher performing, cost effective solutions for point of load conversions," said Eric Pittana, director of marketing, Power Product Line. "With its wide input voltage range, the XRP7657 can be easily integrated into numerous distributed power architectures as well as reused in multiple designs with varying input voltages."
