New embedded module with quad-band HSPA frequency support from Sierra
Sierra Wireless has introduced the MC8795V, a new embedded module designed for HSPA networks and offers a quad-band (850, 900, 1900, and 2100 MHz) frequency band support. The MC8795V features data speeds with up to 7.2 Mbps on the downlink and 5.76 Mbps on the uplink.
The MC8795V module integrates into a variety of OEM devices, such as wireless terminals, point-of-sale devices, computers and ruggedized laptops. It is also GPS capable, and suitable for location-based applications. The MC8795V voice capabilities make it ideal for fixed wireless terminals and portable handheld devices, and also supports simultaneous voice and data usage.
The MC8795V is compatible with the existing tri-band MC8790V and MC8792V embedded modules, providing a better upgrade path, Extensive software, applications and tools, installation and activation wizards, and essential hardware drivers simplify the certification and commercialization process. The module is compliant with the European Union's RoHS (Restrictions on Hazardous Substances) directive.

Availability:
Samples are available to OEM customers for integration and testing. Commercial shipments are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2009.
