New PMIC for LCD monitor panels from Maxim

Maxim has introduced the MAX17100, an integrated PMIC for gate-in-panel (GIP) LCD monitors MAX17100 packs a boost regulator, three high-current operational amplifiers, a VCOM calibrator, linear regulators for gate-on and gate-off supplies, and a 6-channel level shifter. The MAX17100 is suggested for powering the source drivers, gate drivers, and VCOM backplane in LCD monitor panels.

All power blocks are optimized for GIP-based TFT LCDs and the boost regulator employs a 1.2MHz switching frequency to allow the use of low-profile inductors and ceramic capacitors for slimmer panel designs. Built-in digital soft-start and an integrated power MOSFET control inrush currents.

The MAX17100 delivers output voltages up to 18V from a 2.5V to 6V input with 85% efficiency and the integrated operational amplifiers drive the VCOM backplane and feature a 200mA short-circuit current with a 45V/µs slew rate. The 6-channel level shifter can swing from +35V to -15V and can swiftly drive capacitive loads. The MAX17100 also includes an I²C-controlled VCOM calibrator that provides 7-bit setting accuracy.

Operating temperature range: -40°C to +85°C

Package: 6mm x 6mm, 48-pin TQFN package
Price: Starts at $1.50 for 1k pieces
