Integrated Load switch/LDO regulator IC for handheld electronic applications

Advanced Analogic has introduced the AAT4702, a current-limited P-channel MOSFET power switch with an integrated LDO regulator that offers a variety of protection features including auto restart, reverse current blocking and a fault flag to deliver the high level of load current protection in a load switch. And the suggested applications for the AAT4702 include Fingerprint sensors, Hot swap supplies, Media players, Notebook/Laptop/Tablet PCs, Peripheral ports, Smart phones.

Key features are,

Load Switch:
2.4V-5.5V input voltage range
150mA default current limit level
270mO typical RDS (ON) at 2.4V
400ns response to short circuit
Reverse voltage protection
Current limit shutdown with output pull down
Auto restart with 40ms timer
5ms fault blanking timeout
Under-voltage lockout protection

LDO Regulator:
Output current up to 100mA
1.8V output voltage with ±2% accuracy
Thermal and short-circuit protection
Active shutdown output pull-down
Low quiescent current 15µA typical for switch and LDO
Less than 1µA shutdown current
Only 1µF ceramic output capacitor required

"A growing number of applications, such as fingerprint sensing circuits, require both a system power supply and load current protection. The AAT4702 does both," said CJ Zhang, product line vice president. "By integrating a current limited load switch and an LDO in a single compact IC that requires minimal power resources, our new load switch gives notebook and mobile device designers an opportunity to support these applications in a much smaller, lower power circuit."

Operating temperature range: -40°C to +85°C

Package: compact 8-pin, 2x2-mm FTDFN package
Price: Each $0.59 for 1k pieces
