New analog-input class-D amplifier IC for home-audio systems from ST

ST has introduced the TDA7492, a new 50W+50W stereo analog-input class-D amplifier IC that provides high efficiency and requires few external components. The TDA7492 is ideal for stereo, multi-channel and home-audio systems.

The TDA7492 uses the sixth-generation BCD6S (Bipolar/CMOS/DMOS) process, which allows analog, logic, high-voltage functions on a single chip and reduces crosstalk, and also enables complementary NMOS and PMOS transistors in the high-power output circuitry, saving the external bootstrap capacitor and diode required by older processes.

Key features are,

50 W + 50 W continuous output power at THD = 10% with RL = 6. and VCC = 25 V
40 W + 40 W continuous output power at THD = 10% with RL = 8. and VCC = 25 V
Wide range single supply operation (8 - 26 V)
High efficiency (ç = 90%)
Four selectable, fixed gain settings of nominally 21.6 dB, 27.6 dB, 31.1 dB and 33.6 dB
Differential inputs minimize common-mode noise
Standby and mute features
Short-circuit protection
Thermal overload protection
Externally synchronizable
Built-in output filtering
Low distortion (THD+N) of below 0.01%
The TDA7492 family includes 3W-, 5W-, 10W-, 20W-, 25W, and 50W-per-channel

Package: Power SSO-36 package
Price: Each $2.50 for10k pieces
