New ECONA CNS3XXX family of processors from Cavium for home networking apps
Cavium has launched new family of processors targeting home networking applications
The ECONA CNS3XXXX is a high-speed connection featured device supporting data speed of 100Mbs to 1GbpsAccess. This SoC is integrated with most used communications interfaces. The security features available in this ARM core based chip family include Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus, Intrusion Prevention, and VPN. Cavium claims, ECONA CNS3XXXX reduces BOM cost to ultralow level due to the on-chip availability of most wanted features and offers glueless wired and wireless connectivity to a host of CE devices.
The processor core powering this SoC is an ARM11 core operating at 700 MHz. ECONA CNS3XXXX also boasts enough availability of video and audio coding accelerators, which include 10 Hardware accelerators, support for voice and video codecs. Cavium highlights its low power consumption capabilities by using advanced power management unit.
The range of on-chip I/Os include 3x GE, Dual SATA, USB, PCIe-all with integrated PHY, LCD, Camera, SDIO, SPI, TDM / PCM, and I2S.
The suggested applications of this new processor SoC include Residential Gateways, Home Media Servers / NAS, wireless Access Points, Consumer Electronics, Internet Radio, Printers / Print Servers, Digital Photo Frames, Internet Video Streamers, Embedded Processing, Industrial / Medical / Automotive
