Microsemi's line of complete system modules for powering LED backlit displays

Microsemi has announced the expansion of its line of complete high performance system solutions for powering light emitting diode (LED) backlit displays and includes 3-string applications for 3.5 inch to 7-inch displays.

The new modules, designated LXMG1930-28, join Microsemi's recently introduced LXMG1960-28 high performance LED driver modules for 6-string applications. Together, the modules form a family that gives designers of medical, point-of-sale (POS), kiosk, ATM and lottery terminals a choice of easy "plug and play" options for their applications.

Key features are,

High performance LED driver consists of boost converter and three programmable precision current sinks.
PanelMatch technology allows programming LED string currents between 15mA and 50mA in 5mA steps, so that a single module can drive a wide range of panel designs.
StayLIT technology allows continuous operation if one or more strings experience short-circuits or are open.
4.75V to 28V input voltage enables input supplies to be used without external boost circuits.
Analog, digital, and analog+digital dimming options for energy conservation and enhanced dimming ratio.
External thermistor signal integration capability to protect LEDs in an over-temperature environment.
Protection from output LED short circuits, over-voltage, and over temperature operation.
