New continuous data protection software for power saving and data protection
American Megatrends has introduced a new SafeTrends Continuous Data Protection (CDP) Software solution for Windows environments, with new features including the power save mode for notebooks for increase in data backup and protection features.
SafeTrends monitors, filters and protects data with local and remote backup and recovery via USB drives, network shares or Network Attached Storage (NAS) over a local or home network, and now features support for backup to cloud storage services.
The Power Save mode allows notebook users to monitor CPU utilization and battery life, set high, medium and low thresholds of battery charge, and take protective actions when CPU utilization exceeds preset thresholds or battery life is running down. Once AC power is restored, Power Save will automatically resume any data protection tasks that were pending.
"The feature enhancements we have added to this new version of SafeTrends CDP software are a reflection of AMI's commitment to keep our data storage and protection products moving forward in line with the latest developments in the industry," said S. Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends. "SafeTrends utilizes the same technology building blocks as the Continuous Data Protection module of our enterprise-class StorTrends iTX Data Storage Software, yet is user-friendly enough to be suitable for individual users and small businesses that don't necessarily have the support of an IT administrator or an enterprise CDP solution behind them."
