Low power upstream amplifier for DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem

Maxim's MAX3518, is a newly released upstream amplifier consuming low power and generating less distortion for use in DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem. This device consumes 1.25Watts when configured for 31dB of gain and +64dBmVOUT. In transmit-disabled mode it consumes very low power of 25mW at 10dB noise figure and 60dBc of harmonic distortion.

The MAX3518 operates from a single 5.0 Volts supply and need less external components. By adding a standard anti-aliasing filter a complete upstream solution can be made.

The MAX3518 is fully specified over the -40 Deg C to +85 Deg c extended temperature range, and is available in a 5mm x 5mm, 20-pin TQFN package. Prices start at $5.00 (1000-up, FOB USA).
