Digital Temperature Sensors from ST for portable devices
ST has unveiled the STTS751, a digital temperature sensor for portable devices to add intelligent thermal protection feature.
The STTS751 DTS is mounted on the circuit board to retrieve temperature data thus allowing the system to manage its temperature. This device with an accuracy of 1deg C communicates temperature data using an industry-standard System-Management Bus (SMBus) interface thus allowing the sensor to be used in the design of equipments such as solid-state drives, large display backlights, smart batteries, servers and routers, telecom and Internet infrastructure, and e-readers.
Other key features of STTS751 are:
--It operates at 2.25V.
--It has a typical conversion time of 21ms at 10-bit resolution.
--It is programmable, with 10 different conversion rates from 0.0625 to 32 conversions per sec and four different resolutions of 9-, 10-, 11- or 12-bit resolution.
--It has dual alarms (interrupt and thermostat).
--Slave addresses possible per device type
--SMBus 2.0 Alert Response Address (ARA) and Timeout support
This sensor has low 50-microamp operating current, a 3-microamp standby current, and a one-shot mode. Thus this device is suggested for battery-powered devices. One-shot operation allows the sensor to sleep for extended periods, waking only to provide an instantaneous reading when triggered by the system.
Package: 6-pin 2 x 2mm UDFN-6L, SOT23-6L package,
Operating temperature range: -40°C to +125°C
Price: US$0.22 for a minimum quantity of 1000 units.
