1200MHz to 2000MHz dual downconverting mixer from Maxim
Maxim introduced the MAX19994A, a fully integrated, 1200MHz to 2000MHz, dual downconverting mixer with an on-chip LO switch, buffer, and splitter. It is designed using Maxim's monolithic SiGe BiCMOS process. A single IC provides two independent downconversion channels, each with a +25dBm (typ) IIP3, 8.4dB (typ) conversion gain, and 9.8dB (typ) noise figure. It also offers 2LO-2RF spurious rejection of 68dBc for an RF level of -10dBm, and 63dBc for a level of -5dBm. It is suggested for 2.5/3G/4G wireless-infrastructure applications in which high linearity and a low noise figure are critical for enhanced receiver sensitivity and blocker immunity. The MAX19994A supports high-side LO injection architectures for 1200MHz to 1700MHz WCDMA/LTE base stations. It can also be configured for 1700MHz to 2000MHz GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/LTE, TD-SCDMA, and cdma2000 low-side injection architectures.
The MAX19994A integrates two cores, four amplifiers, three baluns (an LO switch, buffer and splitter), and number of discrete components. The device has a conversion gain of 8.4dB elimination of a complete IF amplifier stage within the receiver lineup. The MAX19994A's 2LO-2RF and 2RF-2LO performance is said to ease the filtering requirements of close-in harmonics, thus leading to simpler and more cost-effective filter designs.
