2W Class-D audio amp with integrated boost converter from TI for louder audio

Texas Instruments has introduced the TPA2015D1, a 2-W mono Class-D audio amplifier with integrated boost converter, which it claims delivers 36 percent louder audio than competitive devices and is consistent across the entire Li-Ion battery range. It is also said to allow more than twice the battery life compared to the nearest competing amplifier. It is suggested for space-constrained applications such as smart phones, notebooks, portable navigation devices, portable docking station and portable DVD players. The amplifier also incorporates battery monitoring automatic gain control (AGC) and SpeakerGuard technology to prevent early shutdown at low battery voltages and clipping thus protecting speakers.

Other key features and benefits of TPA2015D1 are:

--It provides constant output power of 2.0 W (3.6 to 5.0 V) provides consistent audio loudness across the Li-Ion battery range.
--Offers efficiency of 81% at 1 W and 3.6 V. Its quiescent current is 1.7mA.
--It is also said to reduce the external components by more than 50 percent and total solution size to 20.25 mm2.
