TI's video communications engine integrates Radvision software

Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced the VCE6467 Video Communications Engine integrated with Radvision's software. This engine is targeted for live HD video communications applications such as video conferencing, telemedicine, digital signage and set-top boxes. TI says that this inclusion of Radvision's software reduces software integration time by more than 10 times the number of man-hours normally required, which significantly speeds time to market.

The VCE6467 is based on TI's DaVinci DM6467 video processor. It is said to allow HD video at 720p 30 frames per second (fps) using H.264 encoding and decoding for seamless two-way communication with low-latency and therefore provides realistic, nearly face-to-face communications, which eliminates the need for in-person meetings.

Other features of VCE6467 are:

--It has an optional multi-protocol support (SIP, H.323), which allows it to communicate and is interoperable with both SIP and H.323 devices

--It has the Media quality framework (SVC, bandwidth management, packet loss resilience). It allows deploying product over any network, including public Internet.

--It is optional fully interoperable with all major video conferencing systems

Price: Trail software is priced at US$1,995
