1 to 50 milli-ohms current sensor for portable electronic systems

Yageo has released to the market PF1206, a ultra-low resistance current sensor targeted for mini portable device applications and features a comprehensive resistance range of 1 to 50 milli-ohms and temperature coefficient of 75ppm/ºC.

This PF1206 is designed using in-house metal foil and metal alloy processing technologies to combine PCB substrate and resistance foil, is capable of delivering 5-10% less temperature rise than similar products.

Yageo's PF1206, available in both 0.25 and 0.5 watts, is particularly suitable for use in the power control circuit of Netbook and notebook computer or the hard disk of other compact portable devices that have stringent space as well as current sensing and over-current protection requirements.

Mr. Vincent Hu, President of Yageo Global Sales Business Group, said, "Propelled by the recent surge in Netbooks market, innovation in Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) products will likely accelerate. Superior precision current sensor, which must be space and power efficient, is paramount to the stability of the CPU of mini portable devices like Netbooks. As Topology research institute survey anticipates laptop computers output including Netbooks to reach US$142 billion, we expect the launch of PF1206 will catapult Yageo's specialty product revenue by over 10%."

Availability: Now in Samples and mass production is underway.
