AC switches from ST Microelectronics to control appliance motors

ST Microelectronics has introduced new AC switches that can control appliance motors. These can be used without many additions to ensure smooth switching. This device will allow one-stop design for heavy-duty home appliance. The ACST4, ACST6 and ACST8 switches include a power triac which helps in turning the motor off without requiring external components. The switches also need to be protected against surge voltages in accordance with the international IEC 61000-4-5.

The ACST410 and ACST610 are allowed direct control by a CMOS device such as microcontroller without requiring a buffer or driver due to its trigger current of 10mA.

The ACST435 and ACST830 specify noise immunity of at least 1000V and 2000V per microsecond complying with the IEC 61000-4-4 fast transient burst test

Other key features of the ACST4/6/8 families:

4A (ACST4), 6A (ACST6) or 8A (ACST8) maximum on-state current
800V blocking voltage.
100A per microsecond turn-on rate.

Package: TO-220FPAB.

Price: US$0.70 in quantities of 10,000
