Bidirectional current-limit device to protect phones from faulty charging

Maxim has introduced the MAX14544/MAX14545, bi-directional overcurrent protectors with built-in 28V MOSFET for use in mobile phones and any such portable electronic devices from faulty overload and/or output-overvoltage conditions. Some of the example applications include cell phones, MIDs (mobile Internet Devices), e-readers, and other portable applications with plug-in accessories.

The MAX14544/MAX14545's forward-current limit is selectable from two factory-preset thresholds of 200mA and 400mA, while the reverse-current limit is set to 150mA.
