Power controller for DDR memory chips from Exar
The XRP6142 IC from Exar is a low voltage synchronous step-down controllers for powering DDR memory chips. This device drives memory reference voltage VTTREF, and also provides either of the memory buffer supply, VDDQ, or the terminating voltage supply VTT for an optimized point-of-load solution for latest generation DDR memory requirements.
"DDR memories have become the prevalent technology for memory based systems," said Eric Pittana, director of marketing, Power Product Line. "The XRP6142 is easy to design in and provides a compact and highly efficient power solution for the latest DDR memory generation. By itself or combined with our SP2996 (DDR Bus Termination Regulator), it's a full turn-key solution for powering DDR based systems."
XRP6142 controller responses to the transients created by load switching faster.
XRP6142 operates from standard 3.3V and 5V rails and is 96% power efficient. Operate at a constant frequency to save the designer from any noise filter designs. The integrated gate driver is capable of driving high current switching devices to deliver current rating of more than 15Amps. The XRP6142 does not need external compensation components and feature integrated soft-start and precision enable function to implement complex sequencing protocols.
