Low-loss schottky rectifier diodes from ST Micro for power supplies
ST Microelectronics has introduced the STPS50U100C, a new member of high-efficiency power schottky rectifier diodes family suitable for energy-efficiency approvals, such as 80 PLUS. The STPS50U100C device is used in the output of power supplies for adapters, desktop PCs, servers, TV and video products, communication equipment, and for other electrical appliances.
The 80 PLUS incentive program proposes to increase power supply efficiency, which reduce global carbon emissions by reducing wasted energy.
The key features of the STPS50U100CT rectifier diode are,
Typical forward-voltage drop (VF) of 0.64V at 25A (0.38V at 5A)
200µA of maximum leakage current
Maximum average forward current of 50A
100V of repetitive peak reverse voltage
250A of surge non-repetitive forward current
ECOPACK 2-compliant packages meeting RoHS regulations
The forward voltage drop is the main source of power losses in power Schottky diodes used for secondary rectification, therefore minimizing this voltage drop is a key innovation driver.
The ULVF family uses enhanced technology providing an increase of the efficiency. The STPS50U100C family will handle high power density providing a high safety margin to address a large scale of high-output power supplies.
Maximum junction temperature: 150°C
