Fairchild’s new power-factor controller with low harmonic distortion for lamp ballasts.

FAN7529 and 7530 from Fairchild semiconductor are new Power factor controllers to use in ballasts, notebook adapters, LCD monitors and LCD TVs.
The Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 10% can be achieved at 25% of full load. Applying more than a couple of innovative techniques, significant quantity of power is saved.
The reliability factor is also improved by featuring open-feedback protection, power disable function, adjustable-output over-voltage protection (OVP) of plus/minus 2%, 150 microsecond internal start-up timer, MOSFET over-current protection and under-voltage lockout with 3.5V hysteresis.
