I/O Optimized Spartan 3A FPGA family from Xilinx for video applications.

Xilinx has increased the supported I/O standards in it's Spartan 3 family to 26 and names it as Spartan 3A. This is customized for applications where I/O count is more important than logic density such as display panel interfaces, video/tuner board interfaces and video switching.

Xilinx says, Spartan series is a very successful product introduction with more than 200 million units shipped by end of 2006. It also shipped 26 million FPGAs made at 90nm node.

The SOHO and Automotive networks are the market addressed through this product.
Asia Pacific is a growing market for these kind of applications and many designers want to secure their IP and design tamper proof by using low cost PLD or FPGA in the interface part.
Spartan 3A holds 1.4 million system gates and 502 I/Os.

Availability: XC3S700A and XC3S1400A are sampling now, XC3S50A, XC3S200A and XC3S400A devices will be sampled in 1Q07
