Microchip has poured in 10 MIPS, 40 MHz, 8 bit microcontroller in to small package of 18 pin SOIC. This is designed for simple and less algorithm intensive motor control applications.

The PIC18F1330 is suggested for 3-phase ACIM VF motors, Brushed DC motors, 3-phase BLDC motors and stepper motors. Applications targeted are, home appliances, power supplies, lighting, fan controllers, and automotive.
