IR1166, from International Rectifier saves additional board components and little power

International Rectifier has released smart rectifier for AC to DC converters in laptops and such AC-DC converted systems. IR1166 is used in the design of mid-power secondary synchronous rectification circuits of resonant half - bridge converters and flyback converters in the power range of 50 - 150 watts, discontinuous conduction mode ( DCM), critical conduction mode (CrCM) and continuous conduction mode (CCM).By using new techniques of voltage threshold sensing across SR MOSFETS, fast and accurate control is achieved. The current transformers and support components will be out of your board design saving space and money. IR says, this smart rectifier saves you 75% of components and 1% of power. This rectifier can be connected directly to a wide range of 100V to 200V SR MOSFETS. The IR1166 is optimized to work with the popular IR MOSFETS IRFB4110, IRF7853 and IRFB4227 for higher efficiencies. IRAC1166-100W; 100W flyback converter reference design, is also available from IR to support your development.
