Goertek uses Synaptics' tech for USB Type-C headphones

Synaptics AudioSmart hybrid adaptive digital noise cancelling technology is adopted by Goertek for use in a new range of advanced active noise cancelling (ANC) headphones. Synaptics says its new noise cancelling technology is the world’s-first single-chip integrated hybrid adaptive digital noise cancelling solution for the wired USB Type-C standard.

Goertek's USB Type-C ANC headphone reference design is a lightweight design and offer good comfort with superior audio response. This battery-less reference design delivers a total solution of premium sound quality without compromising ANC performance, comfort, or design.

Synaptics says its ultra-low latency and adaptive active noise cancellation solution allows for deep (up to 50dB) and wide frequency noise cancellation that adapts to the users environment as well as the headphone position.

“At Goertek we raised the bar on high-performance audio solutions, and partnering with Synaptics helps us stay on the cutting-edge by leveraging their innovative ANC technology into our headset portfolio,” said Dr. Pen C. Li, vice president, Product Marketing at Goertek. “As a leading ODM with a full breadth of acoustic solutions, we acknowledge USB-C represents a paradigm shift in digital headsets, and we are thankful for the superior technology and support that Synaptics provides.”

“USB-C continues to gain traction with attach rates growing significantly year-over-year across key global headset markets such as for smartphones, or more immersive audiophile headphones,” said Saleel Awsare, vice president and general manager, Audio and Imaging Business at Synaptics. “Partnering with Goertek is a terrific way to deliver our best-in-class adaptive hybrid ANC technology with lossless dynamic range across Goertek’s broad leadership portfolio of digital headsets.”
